در کندو چه خبر است؟

کندو جایی است برای خلاق بودن، سودمند بودن و سودمندی‌اش برای جان باهمستان ایرانیانی دورمانده از سرزمین مادری است، برای بالا بردن کیفیت رابطه با سرزمین پهناور و بی‌مرزی که فرهنگ می‌نامیمش.

• کندو مرکزی است که به همت جمعی از هنرمندان و نویسندگان ایرانی مستقل ساکن تورنتو راه‌اندازی شده است. هدف این مجموعه تلاش برای برقراری گفتگو و ارتباط فرهنگی میان اهالی فرهنگ و هنر ایران و جامعه میزبان است از طریق آموزش، برگزاری نشست و رویداد و جشنواره و نمایشگاه، کارگاه‌های متنوع و همکاری با گروه‌هایی که اهداف و اندیشه‌هایی مشابه دارد. این اهداف در فضاهای واقعی و مجازی قابل تحقق خواهد بود تا مخاطبان گسترده‌تری را در بر بگیرد.

• ما دریافته‌ایم تنوع فرهنگی در کشور کانادا می‌تواند فرصت یگانه‌ای باشد برای نزدیک شدن مهاجرانی از گرداگرد جهان به ویژه خاورمیانه و آنان که به جبر از کشور خویش رانده و تبعید شده‌اند یا آنان که در جستجوی آزادی بیان و سبک زندگی این مقصد را برگزیده‌اند.

• در این مسیر هنرمندان، نویسندگان و پژوهشگران جوان و نوپا، آنان که در میانه‌ی راه هستند و هنرمندان پیشگام و حرفه‌ای در کنار ما خواهند بود.

• گروه کندو به دلیل فقدان فضای فرهنگی و هنری مستقل از نگاه‌های حاکمیتی و همچنین جریان‌های اقتصادی پدید آمده است و سرِ آن دارد که صدا و نگاه نسل‌های مختلف در این جغرافیای فرهنگی و گروه‌های در حاشیه مانده را بازتاب دهد.

CanDo is an artist-run Iranian-Canadian Centre for Art and Culture based in Toronto, dedicated to fostering cross-cultural dialogue and understanding through the arts and literature. Our mission is to showcase and communicate with local and international professional and emerging artists, writers, and researchers from diverse backgrounds, focusing on promoting Iranian and Middle Eastern culture. We celebrate creativity through, visual arts, literature, theatre, cinema, music, workshops, panel discussions, and lectures, offering many activities free of charge.
